Ronnie Fieg has become a household name in the sneaker industry from his extensive list of designs (“collaborations”) on brands like Asics, New Balance, Clarks and Sebago. He uses a variety of materials and colors to give his shoes a tone of subtle, street style elegance.
Made with elements of suede or leather and accented with vibrant colors, his designs have a distinctive look and appear too impressive aesthetically to be sold at major shoe retailers. Fieg’s limited editions aren’t cheap and sell out very quickly. His own brand Kith NYC, with two city locations and a large online presence (KithNYC.com) offers a wide selection of high-end sneakers, shoes and apparel. A lot of celebrities and athletes shop at Kith and the recently developed Soho boutique has a sleek, futuristic design, and is dramatically lit. It’s definitely worth a visit. His creativity and talent has rendered an extensive collection of shoes that carries his name (the Ronnie Fieg x Asics 1, 2, etc.). His scope isn’t limited to shoe design and on July 7th Kith had a one-day pop up shop at Yankee Stadium and the distinction to be the first co-partner help design a version of the work on New Era’s 59FIFTY New York Yankees fitted hat cap. From Kith’s success and with the buzz that each of his collaborations carries Fieg has created a very popular brand and a marketplace for highly desired shoes. To be one of the best shoe designers is a quite an achievement and the notoriety, celebrity and coverage Fieg receives is well deserved. Here’s some of his amazing work.
